I am crushed by the state of animals across the globe. A few facts including terrible stats after the fires in Australia in 2019:

  • One billion animals fried to death in Australia.
  • Koala bears are almost extinct.
  • 10,000 camels killed in the ensuing drought.
  • 200 million land animals are killed for food every day. That’s 72 billion a year.
  • An additional 3 billion water animals are killed for human consumption a year.
  • Tens of millions are sacrificed in the name of religion.
  • Thousands of horses are injured in derby races to be eventually shot to death as their injuries cannot be treated.
  • Add to that the cruelty of the fur industry, drug testing, cosmetic testing, and culling of stray animals.

It’s mind numbing.

If you can help animals in any way please do. We assume that humans are superior to animals. We also assume that human suffering is superior to animal suffering. This is not true in any way, shape, or form. Animals are sentient beings that suffer the same pain that humans do. They feel terror and fear, happiness and love, safety and warmth, exactly like us.

Veganism may not be your chosen lifestyle. But kindness towards animals can be expressed in more ways than one. Speaking up for the voiceless is critical and very rewarding. The recent pandemic is the result of the dysfunctional relationship man has with animals. If we don’t continuously revisit this issue, we will continue to see great loss of lives. Animal products cause health problems like cancer and heart disease. Dairy causes micro-inflammation in the tissues of the body that is very harmful. The dairy industry is incredibly cruel in its practices and treatment of cows. We must speak up against the cruel treatment of animals in the meat and dairy industries.

You are in control of your health. Cutting down meat and dairy consumption has scientifically been proven to improve health in many ways. Stay healthy!
